On May 12, 2013 Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched automatic aid to assist Botsford Fire Department for an automatic fire alarm at a commercial building. Arriving firefighters discovered smoke coming from the waste transfer station building at 199 South Main St. Hook and Ladder assisted operations on the scene, providing forcible entry to an adjacent building, lighting in the fire building and manpower for overhaul of a large garbage fire. Engine 1 used a hydrant on South Main St. to fill tankers utilized to shuttle water to the fire. Hook and Ladder operated on the scene for approximately 90 minutes.
