Shortly after noon on April 12, 2013 Newtown Hook and Ladder responded with automatic aid from Botsford Fire Department for a reported motor vehicle accident with entrapment in front of 125 South Main St. Responding personnel found upon arrival a two-vehicle accident involving a passenger car and a box delivery truck. The passenger car was heavily damaged and the driver was trapped and unconscious within. With teamwork from both departments, the vehicle was stabilized; all four doors and the roof of the vehicle were removed. The dashboard was raised and displaced by firefighters, allowing total access to the patient for removal and transfer to EMS. Extrication time was completed in 22 minutes from time of dispatch. Hook and Ladder personnel remained on scene until both vehicles were removed and scene secured approximately 2 hours later.
