Chimney Fire

Engine 111 and Ladder Truck 114 responded to The Boulevard for a chimney fire, early evening on October 17th, 2015. Crews responding extinguished the seat of the fire, removing the burning material from the residential structure. Additional crews went to the space above and the roof to check for extension. No additional fire was found, the chimney was cleared of built up and the home was ventilated before returning.

Mutual Aid to Brookfield, then New Milford

Before 6PM October 18th, 2015 Newtown Hook and Ladder was requested to respond an engine and crew and Hawleyville Fire Department with a tanker to cover the Brookfield Fire Department station on Pocono Rd in Brookfield. Brookfield FD was operating out of town in New Milford at the scene of two barns burning. Once on standby in the BFD fire station the NHL crew was requested to move up to the scene to assist. Hook and Ladder operated two towns away in New Milford for approximately an hour before being released and returned to Newtown.

Structure Fire on Aunt Park Lane

Early morning on Monday May 4th, 2015 fire companies were dispatched to 4 Aunt Park Lane for a structure fire. Arriving crews from Dodgingtown FD reported a fully involved house fire. Engine 1 was used to establish a water supply from a tanker shuttle utilizing SHFR Engine 441 to fill tankers less than a mile away. Crews on scene used hand lines to cool hot spots and venting propane tanks. Ladder Truck 114 returned to service while Engine 1 remained on scene for some time. Brookfield Fire Department was called in to cover Hook & Ladder station while crews were assigned at the fire.

Dryer Fire on Poverty Hollow Rd

Midday on Sunday May 3rd, 2015 Newtown Hook and Ladder responded with Dodgingtown Fire Department for a dryer fire at 28 Poverty Hollow Rd. Hook and Ladder assist DFD with stretching a hose line to extinguish and overhaul the fire. Additional crew member from Ladder Truck 114 provided positive pressure ventilation before being released from the scene by DFD’s Chief.

Structure Fire on Castle Hill Rd

Friday late afternoon on April 23rd, 2015 Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched to 101 Castle Hill Rd with Hawleyville, Sandy Hook and Dodgingtown Fire departments. Arriving crews reported fire showing from two second floor windows and NHL Engine 111 dropped 700’ of in the driveway for water supply and attacked the fire with two hand lines. Using Ladder Truck 114 crews went to the roof to ventilate the structure while HVFD Engine 331 pumped the driveway line, using water from responding tankers. Additional water supply was being developed by SHFR to a nearby pond but the fire was extinguished before it could be utilized. The fire was placed under control quickly and the scene was turned over to the Fire Marshal’s office for investigation.

Structure Fire on Alpine Circle

Shortly after 6pm on Tuesday September 2, 2014 Newtown Hook & Ladder responded to assist Sandy Hook Fire Department for a reported structure fire on Alpine Circle. Arriving crews from Hook & Ladder on Ladder Truck 114 and Engine 1 went to working stretching a hand-line to the basement and sending a crew to the roof for vertical ventilation if needed. After the fire was extinguished Hook & Ladder crews assisted with overhaul, checking for hidden fires on the first floor and in the basement. Members remained on the scene for just under two hours before returning.
