Motor Vehicle Accident on Main Street

Saturday morning, September 20, 2014 Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at Main St in the area of Mount Pleasant Rd. Crews arriving on the scene found an injured occupant being cared for by Newtown Ambulance and a fluid spill. The tractor trailer truck involved lost the contents of its fuel tank in the accident. Members contained the fuel spill and CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was notified and summoned to the scene. CT DEEP assumed control of the environmental cleanup and Hook & Ladder returned to service in just under two hours.

Motor Vehicle Accident on Interstate 84

Wednesday, late morning on August 6, 2014, Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 84, west bound at exit 9 off ramp. Arriving crews found a single vehicle on its side with the driver out of the vehicle. Members checked for hazards, assisted EMS. Hook and Ladder remained on scene until vehicle was up-righted and removed from the scene.

Motor Vehicle Accident on Mount Pleasant Road

Mid-day on Friday, July 25, 2014 Newtown Hook & Ladder responded with Hawleyville Fire to a single car motor vehicle accident roll over with injuries. The driver was trapped in the vehicle on its side near the intersection of Mount Pleasant Road and Sedor Lane. NH&L personnel assisted Hawleyville with vehicle stabilization and extrication. The vehicle was stabilized on its side with multiple Res-Q-Jacks™ and cribbing. Hurst Tool Cutters and Saws-Alls were utilized to remove the windshield and the front section of the roof to access the patient. The patient was packaged and transported to Danbury Hospital by Newtown Ambulance. Newtown Hook & Ladder was on scene for approximately 40 minutes.

Motor Vehicle Accident on Wasserman Way

Friday, June 6, 2014 before 7:30am Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched for a MVA with injuries. Arriving crews from Engine 112 and Rescue 113 assisted Newtown Ambulance with patient care and loading into awaiting ambulance. Crews also secured a still running vehicle and fluid spilled from the accident before returning to service.

Motor Vehicle Accident on Interstate 84

Friday, mid-morning on May 23, 2014, Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched to assist Hawleyville Fire Department for the reported motor vehicle accident on Interstate 84 eastbound between exits 9 and 10. Arriving crew found a two vehicle MVA with one person injured, members checked for hazards, assisted EMS before transferring command to Hawleyville FD. Total time on scene was less than twenty minutes.

Motor Vehicle Accident on Dodgingtown Road

Early Sunday morning, May 11, 2014, just after midnight Newtown Hook and Ladder and Dodgingtown Fire Department were dispatched for a MVA with entrapment in front of 3 Dodgingtown Road. Arriving crew responding Rescue 113 found 1 vehicle on its roof with 1 occupant trapped. The vehicle was quickly stabilized with 2 Res-Q-Jacks™ and cribbing. The driver’s side front and rear doors and passenger side front door were removed as well as the driver’s side “B” post. The trapped person was removed for EMS care. From time of Rescue 113 arriving on scene to extrication complete was 23 minutes.
