Car Fire on Church Hill Rd

Shortly before 5PM on Monday September 14th, 2015 Newtown Hook and Ladder responded with Sandy Hook Fire Rescue to a reported vehicle fire in Sandy Hook. Located at the intersection of Church Hill Rd and Washington Ave, NHL members assisted SHFR with suppression of a well involve car fire.


Truck Fire on South Main St

Just after 5AM on Monday June 1st, 2015 Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched to equipment parking lot at 40 South Main St for a truck fire. Engine 111 arrived and extinguished a fire involving a ten wheel tractor truck. Fire Marshal’s office investigated the fire.

Vehicle Fire

Monday, October 6, 2014 just before 5:30 pm Newtown Hook and Ladder and Sandy Hook Fire Departments were again dispatched to Interstate 84 west bound for a reported vehicle fire. Responding crews from both departments found a car fire in the area of Parmalee Hill Rd. overpass after receiving conflicting reports of the exact location relayed from dispatch. The first two lanes of roadway were shut down by Engine 1, Engine 441 and Rescue 113 to allow crews to safely extinguish the fire.

Vehicle Fire

Sunday, April 20, 2014, mid-morning Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched for a car fire on Church Hill Road. Engine 111 responded and extinguished a small engine compartment fire with tank water and one hand line.

Truck Fire on Interstate 84

Wednesday, April 9, 2014, mid-morning, Newtown Hook and Ladder and Sandy Hook Fire Department were dispatched to Interstate 84 west bound in the area of the Tunnel Road overpass for a Truck Fire. Engine 111 and Engine 1 responded to the highway and found a Tractor Trailer Truck carrying building material with a partial cargo load on fire. The driver of the truck was fortunate to have a forklift to assist the Fire Department and limit the spread of fire by unloading the affected material. The bundle of building material was off loaded and separated to speed extinguishment. Tank water was used to extinguish the fire with one hand line from Engine 111 while Engine 1 was brought in to block traffic for the scene.

Car Fire

Monday, March 3, 2014 early afternoon Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched with Hawleyville Volunteer F.D. to a car fire on Farrell Rd. Engine 111 and crew responded and found a SUV on fire in a residential driveway. The property owner called 911 before attempting to extinguish the fire using a portable fire extinguisher and garden hose. Arriving crew extinguished all remaining fire, remaining on scene for approximately 25 minutes.
