Brush Fire

Monday, October 6, 2014, just after 2:30 pm Newtown Hook and Ladder and Sandy Hook Fire Departments were dispatched to Interstate 84 west bound for a reported brush fire. Arriving crews found the brush fire at exit 9 off ramp and extinguished.

Wednesday, May 7, 2014, just after 4pm Newtown Hook and Ladder and Hawleyville Fire Department were dispatched to Papoose Hill Road for a brush fire. Arriving crews found less than ½ acre brush fire burning in the woods. Engine 112 from Hook and Ladder and Engine 331 from Hawleyville responded and extinguished the small brush fire.

Sunday, April 20, 2014, shortly after noon Newtown Hook and Ladder responded for a reported brush fire on Old Farm Hill Road. Engine 112 responded and found less than ½ acre brush fire. Partial extinguishment was performed by the home owner before crews arrived. The Fire Department finished extinguishing the brush fire and overhauled the area.

Monday, April 14, 2014, Newtown Hook and Ladder responded with Dodgingtown Fire Department to the scene of a brush fire located on Sugar Street in Dodgingtown. Engine 112 and Engine 111 responded and assisted with manpower and additional water to extinguish an approximate ½ acre brush fire in the woods alongside the road.

Thursday, April 10, 2014, just after noon Newtown Hook and Ladder and Hawleyville Fire Department were dispatched to Papoose Hill Road for a brush fire. Arriving crews found a bush burning in close proximity to a residential dwelling. Engine 112 and Engine 111 responded and extinguished approximately ½ acre of fire. Hawleyville Fire Department Engine 331 and Tanker 339 responded to the scene to assist and provide additional water to overhaul the fire. All crews returned to service approximately one hour later.

I-84 Brush Fire

On Thursday morning November 14, 2013, just after 5am Newtown Hook & Ladder responded to Interstate 84 west bound between exits 10 & 9 for a reported brush fire. An area of approximately 75’ x 100’ on the right side of the highway was burning. Two engines with crews extinguished the fire and overhauled the area checking for hot spots and hidden fires.
