House fire in Sandy Hook claims a life

Hook and Ladder was dispatched at 12:19am on Thursday December 30th to 16 Philo Curtis Road in Sandy Hook.

The fire was located in the rear of the house on the first floor. The victim, a 55 year old woman, was found in a second floor bedroom. The origin and exact cause of the fire is under investigation.

NH&L responds mutual aid

Thursday, December 30, 2010 Brookfield Fire Department requested firefighters from Newtown to assist in coverage while they were fighting a fire on Elbow Hill Road. Engine 1 and crew from Hook and Ladder responded to the Pocono Road fire headquarters to man that station. Hawleyville’s Tanker 339 and crew also responded.
