Accidental Fire in Horse Stable

A small fire broke out at a horse farm on Taunton Hill Road. Just before 1am on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, Hawleyville, Newtown Hook and Ladder and Dodgingtown Fire Departments were dispatched to the horse farm for smoke in the building. Ladder 114 and Engine 1 responded from NH&L, arriving crews found a small fire inside the building and a smoke condition throughout. The fire was quickly extinguished and crews vented the smoke and turned the scene over to the Fire Marshal’s office for investigation.

Elevator Rescue on Church Hill Rd

Just after 12 noon on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched to 30 Church Hill Road for a person stuck in a stalled elevator. Ladder 114 and Rescue 113 responded to the scene, crews established communications with the single occupant before shutting off power to the elevator. Once power was secure the elevator car door was opened and the occupant was assisted out.

Company Drill

Monday evening, June 16, 2014 Newtown Hook and Ladder practiced their forcible entry skills as well as raising several portable ground ladders. Multiple evolutions took place and twenty-two department firefighters and officers were in attendance.

Motor Vehicle Accident on Wasserman Way

Friday, June 6, 2014 before 7:30am Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched for a MVA with injuries. Arriving crews from Engine 112 and Rescue 113 assisted Newtown Ambulance with patient care and loading into awaiting ambulance. Crews also secured a still running vehicle and fluid spilled from the accident before returning to service.
