Working Structure Fire on Berkshire Rd.

On March 27, 2013 Newtown Hook and Ladder responded automatic aid to Sandy Hook for working structure fire at 254 Berkshire Rd. Firefighters upon arrival found a well-involved single-family private dwelling. Engine 111 was sent a suppression tank maintained on an adjacent road and filled tankers used during the initial attack while a supply line was put in place. Truck 114 positioned in front of the fire building for vertical ventilation. Hook and Ladder firefighters assisted with searches, extinguishment, ventilation and overhaul. Members operated on the scene for just over three hours.

Propane Leak

During the afternoon of March 11, 2013 Newtown Hook and Ladder was dispatched for a Propane Leak in the rear parking lot of 61 Church Hill Rd. Arriving firefighters discovered a propane leak from a dispensing tank that had been overfilled. It was found that the relief valve worked correctly. The area surrounding was metered with negative results while the responsible company bled down the tank and Hook and Ladder returned to service approximately 30 minutes later.
